Meet Abby Brill Schloss, a dynamic realtor who turned her passion for homes and design into a thriving career. Formally a licensed Physical Therapist in the U.S., Abby moved to Israel and switched gears to pursue her love for real estate. Abby specializes in helping English-speaking clients find their perfect homes in Jerusalem. Abby’s unique blend of expertise and understanding the differences between the US market and Israel has made her a trusted guide in the city’s competitive market.
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in real estate?
A: I loved being a Physical Therapist, but my passion for homes and design kept pulling me in another direction. After years of flipping and selling homes in the U.S. with my husband, I realized I wanted to help others find their dream homes, especially here in Jerusalem. I love connecting with clients, exploring beautiful properties, and imagining the potential in older homes.
Q: Can you describe a typical day in the life of a real estate agent at your firm?
A: No two days are ever the same, which keeps things exciting! Mornings are spent responding to emails and catching up on client needs. The afternoons involve visiting properties, meeting with clients, and networking with agents and developers. Evenings are often dedicated to overseas clients, so late nights are part of the job.
Q: What areas or neighborhoods do you specialize in, and what makes them unique?
A: I focus on Baka, German Colony, Rehavia, Arnona, and Mamilla. These neighborhoods are known for their stunning architecture, vibrant communities, and unbeatable central locations. Each one has its own charm, catering to a wide range of lifestyles.
Q: What is the most memorable transaction you’ve handled, and why?
A: A client purchased an off-plan apartment she’d never seen, fulfilling her family’s dream of owning in Jerusalem. When we visited the finished property months later, she stepped onto the porch and saw the breathtaking view for the first time. She burst into tears, overwhelmed with joy. It was an honor to help make their dream a reality and moments like this remind me why I love what I do!
Q: How do you stay current with market trends and industry developments?
A: Staying informed is key. Our team collaborates constantly, sharing insights and updates. I also maintain close relationships with developers and agents, ensuring I know about upcoming projects before they hit the market.
Q: What tips do you have for first-time homebuyers?
A: Find a real estate agent you trust. The Israeli market is wildly different from what many English-speaking buyers are used to, and having someone who understands the world you come from and can guide you through the process makes all the difference.
Q: How do you handle challenges or difficult situations with clients?
A: I am a strong believer in karma and that you get what you put out into the world. If a misunderstanding arises, I always feel it’s best to be transparent and try to understand the client’s perspective before offering a solution.
Q: What do you love most about working at your office?
A: The team! We have a young, vibrant team with a boutique feel. We’re not just colleagues, we’re friends -which makes the environment collaborative and fun.
Q: How do you balance your professional and personal life?
A: Real estate demands a lot of multitasking! While balance is tricky, I make it work by staying organized and keeping my priorities in check.
Q: Can you share a fun fact or an interesting story about yourself that clients might not know?
A: My husband and I have been together since the 6th grade! We’ve shared every major milestone in our lives together.
